The CAS provides individuals and businesses with a professional or personal interest in the Canadian-American relationship, a wealth of benefits, including:

  • Networking opportunities to meet other business contacts with an interest in Canada
  • Information and perspectives on recent developments in Canada direct from political and business leaders
  • Unique forums to discuss public policy issues of common interest to Canadians and Americans
  • Access to Canadian cultural events and social activities including the annual Canada Day Celebration and Canada Gala
  • Resources to help launch or enhance a Canadian business in Washington State or an American business in Canada

Robert Boyd
President

Robert, born in Huntsville, Ontario and educated in Alberta and British Columbia, is the President of Orca Creative Group Inc. the northwest’s oldest and most respected three-dimensional marketing firm.  Additionally, Robert chairs the board of the Washington State International Trade Fair and sits as a member of the Governors Task Force Subcommittee for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

Garth Hornland
Vice-President
A native of Edmonton, AB and a graduate of the University of Alberta, Garth is the administration manager responsible for PCL Construction Services, Inc.’s Pacific Northwest USA operation.

Gail Kruk

Paula is a native of Toronto, ON and an MBA graduate of the University of Western Ontario, Richard Ivey School of Business. She is the Founder and CEO of a start up known as Barkz – the dog stop.

Kevin Cook

Board Member

Kevin serves as the Political, Economic & Academic Officer at the Consulate General of Canada in Seattle.  Kevin organizes the annual Canada Gala which is one of the Society’s major events and source for the CAS Study in Canada Scholarships.  Kevin is a retired US Navy Captain and spent 6 years with the British Consulate in San Francisco before joining the Canadian Consulate in 1999.

Michael Herbst

Board Member

Michael, who grew up in New York, has been a business lawyer in Seattle for 17 years. He has served as Chairman of the International Practice Section of the WA State Bar Association and as a member of the Executive Board of the British American Business Council. Michael is a Foreign Legal Consultant in BC.

Orville McDonald

Board Member

Orville is a program manager at Microsoft in Redmond, WA. He is a native of Toronto, Ontario and graduate of The University of Western Ontario.

Henry Peterson

Board Member

Henry is a native of Calgary, Alberta and a graduate of the University of Calgary. He currently resides in the Management Department at the School of Business and Economics, Seattle Pacific University.

Melissa Richardson

Board Member
Melissa, a native of Sarnia, ON, is a graduate of The University of Western Ontario, and received her MS degree in Buffalo, NY.  She has volunteered over the years as the Secretary, Social Chair, and Web Administrator; she currently serves as the Academic Chair.

Ian Tien

Board Member

Ian is a Senior Product Manager in the Office Business Application product group at Microsoft Corporation. He also serves as Vice-President for the Seattle branch of the Chinese Institute of Engineers. He is a graduate of the University of Waterloo and Cornell University, and grew up in Markham, Ontario.
